Moscow was the world’s most expensive city for expatriates for many years according to Mercer’s Cost of Living Survey, but as of 2010 it has been demoted to 4th place. This still leaves Moscow a more expensive city than anywhere in Europe or the Americas.<\/p>\n

Mercer’s survey covers 143 cities across six continents and measures the comparative cost of over 200 items in each location, including housing, transportation, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment. It is the world’s most comprehensive cost of living survey and is used to help multinational companies and governments determine compensation allowances for their expatriate employees.<\/p>\n

How much you personally will spend in Moscow<\/a> depends completely on your lifestyle and adaptability! Despite Mercer’s ranking, you can enjoy a very good standard of living here without spending a fortune, particularly if you carefully evaluate your housing options and if you know where to shop and how to get around.
