Visas Guide – Delhi<\/h2>\n

Foreign nationals arriving in India for employment must hold a valid employment visa, which can be obtained from the Indian Embassy\/High Commission located in your home country. In some countries, the Indian government outsources visa processing to third-party processing centers, which act as official liaisons between visa-applicants and Indian missions.<\/p>\n

The Indian Government issues the following types of visas through its overseas missions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

What It Means<\/h4>\n<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n

Employment Visa<\/td>\nMultiple-entry Employment visas are granted on a case-to-case basis to foreign nationals wishing to take up employment in India.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Business Visa<\/td>\nThis visa is required by persons visiting India on business. A Business Visa is valid for up to ten years with multiple entries. It is available to foreign businessmen who have set up or intend to set up joint ventures in India.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Tourist Visa<\/td>\nThis visa is issued to people visiting India for tourism. Tourist Visas are valid for six months to ten years and generally cannot be extended. With this type of visa, no single stay in India can exceed 180 days, and a gap of two months is required between each visit to India.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Student Visa<\/td>\nThis visa is granted to persons who wish to come to India to study. The duration of the visa depends upon the duration of the academic session to be undertaken by the applicant in India.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Entry Visa\/X-Visa<\/td>\nThis visa is granted to those persons who wish to visit India for long-term or permanent residence but do not belong to any of the above categories, including spouses of Indian nationals and people of Indian origin. Foreign nationals coming to India on an Employment Visa may obtain an X-visa for their spouses and children before coming to India.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Note that the requirements for certain types of visas, especially employment visas, change frequently and without notice.<\/p>\n

Registration:<\/strong>\u00a0All foreign nationals on employment and student visas have to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of their arrival in India. Please refer to the Registration Section for more information.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
