However, needing to pay taxes on that same income in your home country depends on the agreement that has been reached between that country and Germany. To see if you are exempt from double taxation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expatinfodesk.com\/expat-guide\/deciding-on-the-right-country\/top-expatriate-destinations\/germany\/\">while residing in Germany<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Taxes are taken out of your gross pay (Lohnsteuer, or wage tax) by your employer. Incomes of less than \u20ac7,664 for a single person and \u20ac15,329 for a married couple are not taxed. Incomes up to \u20ac52,152 single \/ \u20ac104,304 married are taxed on a sliding scale from 15-42 percent, with incomes over this amount capped at 45 percent.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-74478\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expatinfodesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/iStock_2673218_SMALL-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.expatinfodesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/iStock_2673218_SMALL-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.expatinfodesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/iStock_2673218_SMALL-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.expatinfodesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/iStock_2673218_SMALL.jpg 692w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All other sources of income (Einkommensteuer) are taxed at varying rates.
