BIRD & SWINE FLU<\/strong>
\nThe risk to humans is believed to be very low.<\/p>\n

HEPATITIS A<\/strong>
\nHepatitis A is a viral disease that causes inflammation of the liver.
\nRisk assessment: Low<\/p>\n

HEPATITIS B<\/strong>
\nHepatitis B is a viral disease that causes inflammation of the liver and may lead to chronic complications.
\nRisk assessment: Low in most cases. Healthcare workers are at higher risk.<\/p>\n

RABIES<\/strong>
\nRabies is a neurological disease caused by viruses of the Lyssavirus genus.
\nRisk assessment: Risk of exposure increases by type of activity (e.g. running, cycling), occupation (e.g. veterinarians) and longer duration of stay. Children are at increased risk as they are less likely to avoid contact with animals and to report a bite or lick.<\/p>\n

TETANUS<\/strong>
\nTetanus is caused by a toxin released from Clostridium tetani bacteria.
\nRisk assessment: Tetanus bacteria are found worldwide.<\/p>\n

TICK-BORNE ENCEPHALITIS<\/strong>
\nTick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is a viral disease affecting the central nervous system.
