Pets Guide for Expats<\/h2>\n

Thais love animals – from fish and birds to cats and dogs, pets are very popular with Thai families. It’s also remarkably easy to bring a pet from your home country<\/a>. There are, however, some difficulties with having pets in Bangkok.<\/p>\n

First of all, Bangkok has very few public green areas and the sidewalks and roads are not meant for cats and dogs. Second, most foreigners in Thailand<\/a> live in condo’s, except for those who manage to find a house. Most condo’s do not allow pets, at least not big ones. You may get by having an indoor cat, but in general it’s not possible to keep a dog. Even if you could, you would have to consider how to get exercise and obtain fresh air for your dog, which is no easy task in the concrete jungle of Thailand. So, unless you have a house with a yard, it may not be practical to bring a dog or buy a puppy.<\/p>\n

If you are lucky enough to have room and space to bring your pet, you will find Bangkok has many shops, clinics and services that caters to man’s best friend. There’s an abundance of grooming shops as well. If you are interested in smaller pets such as aquarium fish, birds and even lizards, you will be able to find equipment and everything you need quite easily.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
